The Alverton’s Insider Guide: 24 Hours in Truro

With only 24 hours to spend in Truro, how will you plan your day? Explore our top things to do around our Cornish capital.

8am - 10am

A hearty Cornish breakfast

You’ve woken up in the comfort of your hotel room at The Alverton. Start the day The Alverton way and wander down to the restaurant to enjoy a hearty Cornish breakfast. Served until 10:30am, fuel up for a day of exploring Cornwall’s capital! Don’t forget we also offer a mouth-watering brunch menu for non-residents.

10am - 11:30am

Walk to Malpas

One of our favourite walks, start at The Alverton and wander through the town towards the riverside village of Malpas – about a mile outside the city centre. Here, you can enjoy a coffee at one of our favourite cafes: Cafe in the Park.

11:30am - 1pm

Head back into town

After taking in the views of Truro’s river, head on back to the city centre for a bit of shopping. Truro is bursting with popular independent shops such as UneekaIllustrated LivingMistral, and Busby & Fox, who can provide great gifts to bring back to your family and friends – or to treat yourself! If shopping isn’t your thing, head to the Royal Cornwall Museum to learn about Cornish history and heritage or see one of the many exhibitions on offer.

1pm - 2pm

Pause for lunch

Known for being a foodie county, Cornwall has an array of cafes, restaurants and bistros to visit, and Truro is no exception. Archie Browns is perfect for vegetarians, Hubbox is your go-to for burgers aplenty, or head back to The Alverton to try our Celtic-inspired menu.

2pm - 3:30pm

Hop aboard

Fancy getting to your next destination by boat? Hop aboard the Fal River Enterprise boat and travel to the nearby town of Falmouth. Experience life on the water, watch out for Cornwall’s wildlife and enjoy passing by Cornish landmarks.

3:30pm - 5pm

Sip, sip, hooray!

After you’ve arrived on land, head towards our sister hotel The Greenbank. Here you can enjoy a unique range of quirky hand-crafted cocktails priced at two for £10 during cocktail hour, as you watch the boats float on by on Falmouth’s harbour.

5pm - 7pm

Venture back to Truro

Travelling to and from Truro couldn’t be easier. Head back via train, bus, boat or taxi and land back in the heart of our Cornish capital. Just a small walk from the city centre, The Alverton is a perfect base for travelling around Cornwall.

7pm - 9pm

Dive into dinner and drinks

Why not join us for dinner and drinks in our two AA-rosette awarded restaurant and bar? Our ethos is all about good honest food made using the best locally sourced ingredients.

9pm - 8am
