UPDATED 22nd MARCH 2020: It is with heavy hearts that The Alverton will be temporarily closed for an initial period of three months. Safeguarding our team, guests, the local community, and our NHS has always been our number one priority, so after closing our food and beverage operations on 18th March, we feel that the time has now come to fully batten down the hatches. It is our duty to be part of the nationwide solution to stop the spread of Covid-19 and to protect each other. We will constantly review the situation and follow the UK government guidelines as they are announced over the coming weeks. Whilst we cannot confirm when the hotel will re-open, our reception team will be monitoring emails, but this could take up to 7 days for a response so please bear with us. Please email email@example.com to discuss any bookings. Our full statement can be read here.
Open the old oak door and step into our hidden secret in the city: The Alverton. Offering unrivalled hospitality, luxurious rooms, two AA rosette-worthy food and delicious tipples. Within walking distance of everything that Truro has to offer, The Alverton also makes the perfect base for Cornwall's best attractions and most beautiful destinations.
The four silver star hotel is a historic Grade II listed building. Previously a convent it is romantic and completely original with its own bell tower, slate roof, arched mullioned windows, ivy clad walls and curved archways uncovering hidden hideaways - The Alverton offers a unique charm that makes staying here a real experience.

"The chef’s signature is beef cooked three ways and it is melt-in-the-mouth delicious, especially when washed down with a bottle of the Barolo. The seafood is (of course) excellent and fresh, and the atmosphere is lively"
"...It's a stylish hotel with a well-regarded restaurant"
"It’s the county capital Truro’s most comfortable place to stay by far"
"The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious and exceptional staff in the bar and restaurant put everyone at their ease."
"Once a bank, then a covenant for nuns, this romantic ‘secret-in-the-city’ tastefully juxtaposes the building’s historical heritage with a contemporary design that feels luxurious but homely."
"Lovely bar, opening onto the terrace, where experienced staff give practised advice on wines. Food at the Brasserie, comfortable, low-lit and relaxed, is generous both in its portions and flavours."
"Each room pays homage to the hotel’s illustrious past, with arched doorways and windows, original flagstone flooring and exposed brickwork — complemented by bespoke furnishings, contemporary ensuite bathrooms, and a wealth of mod cons."
"In some ways The Alverton encapsulates the theory that Cornwall is punching well above its weight in the nation's hospitality scene."
"The Chapel suite featured beautiful vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, bespoke furniture, a gorgeous free-standing copper bathtub, and all the amenities you’d expect for a luxury stay."
