Our Charity of the Year
We’re excited to announce that alongside our sister hotel, The Greenbank, we are backing the campaign to bring a new air ambulance to Cornwall.
Our chosen charity in Cornwall
The Alverton and The Greenbank are becoming major New Heli Appeal Partners with Cornwall Air Ambulance. Over the next year, we aim to raise £20,000 for the lifesaving charity, who provide a helicopter emergency service for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Ben Young, Managing Director said:
“Whilst 20% of Cornwall Air Ambulance’s vital lifesaving work in Cornwall is for the benefit of our out-of-county visitors, less than 5% of the required revenues come from the tourism sector. It is our responsibility as hoteliers to do our bit to make a difference.
“Therefore, we have put together a range of activities in support of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. We want to raise funds specifically for the exciting New Heli Appeal. We have ambitious plans to raise £10,000 per hotel and hope to exceed this!
“Our team are looking forward to taking part in sponsored walks from Falmouth to Truro. As well as this, we will be hosting a grand gala fundraising night and foodie events. They’ll also be options for our guests to donate, plus so much more. With over £20,000 to raise, it’s going to be a huge team effort to maximise impact across both hotels.”
The New Heli Appeal
The £2.5M New Heli Appeal was launched with the aim of bringing a more powerful air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall by April 2020.
Steph Preston-Evans, Corporate Fundraising Officer with Cornwall Air Ambulance, said:
“It’s so exciting to have these two amazing hotels join as New Heli Appeal partners. They will help raise money over the next year, but most importantly they will raise awareness about the appeal to visitors in Cornwall. They have lots of great fundraising ideas and we look forward to working alongside them.”
Our Coastal Convoy Hailed a Huge Success
A magnificent £3,000 was raised at The Coastal Convoy – a 16 mile hotel-to-hotel ramble – for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
