Introducing Escape Beauty

What first attracted you to the beauty and relaxation industry?

I originally trained as a psychologist but moved to beauty and massage a few years ago. I was attracted to the industry because I believe in the importance of relaxation and recharge to your mental and physical health. A recent survey found that 52 per cent of men and 65 per cent  of women choose massage and beauty therapies to improve their mental health and wellbeing, so this is understood by clients too. I also love helping people to feel good about themselves. Our clients are always lovely and it’s wonderful to be able to give them some much-needed relaxation time.  It’s very important to me that they always leave our salon feeling refreshed and renewed.

We’re excited to be offering your services to our guests. What treatments can they expect when visiting Escape?

We offer a full range of beauty therapy treatments including manicures and pedicures, waxing, lash and brow treatments, facials and massage. We are famous for our luxury massage treatments in our themed treatment rooms, which are designed to promote physical and emotional health. Known for their healing properties, massages benefit by reducing stress, enhancing circulation, reducing muscle soreness and improving flexibility. We try and deliver all our treatments in an atmosphere of serenity where clients truly feel able to truly take time for themselves. We strive for our service to be personal, fostering a sense of renewal that’s based on your needs, beauty aims and mental growth.

Your massages are themed around travel, perfect for those visiting Cornwall! Could you tell us a little more about this?

We wanted to be a little different to other salons and offer clients a real sense of escapism. Massages and facials take place in our themed treatment rooms with calming music and relaxed lighting. We understand this is perfect for guests visiting Cornwall, and it also provides an escape for people living here.

In line with the idea of escapism and travel, your treatment rooms are themed into Rainforest, Africa and Island. What can our guests expect to find in each room?

Our Rainforest Room is a low-ceiling room with a calming, dark green colour palette and rainforest feature wall. The lighting is brought down low for treatments, enabling the fairy lights to create a magical feel – perfect for a relaxing facial. The Africa Room is themed in dark red with an Africa landscape feature wall, creating a warm and cosy feel. Lighting comes from our beautiful Fiscus Liana tree lit by small lights which creates a lovely warm glow. Our signature massage treatment, The Perfect Escape, takes place here.  Finally, our Island Room is the most bright lit of our treatment rooms, themed in teal like the salon itself. This room is frequently used for our lash and brow treatments but sometimes used for waxing.

What are some of your favourite treatments to give, and receive?

My personal favourite treatment is massage. As a masseuse, I love to help my clients feel relaxed and restored. The ambience in our rooms is just magical and it creates a fantastic bubble of escape time. Watching clients visibly relax and unwind during their treatment is lovely to see. When it’s my turn for a treat, I also love to receive a massage as it soothes all the tension and restores muscle health.

Tell us a little bit about the team and their background in beauty and relaxation.

We are a small team of four therapists, all fully qualified and experienced in the treatments we offer. Each team member has their own specialisms and preferred treatments. Beth is a very talented Level 3 Beauty Therapist who is often rebooked for her facial and massage specialisms. Poppy is also a Level 3 Therapist who specialises in massage treatments, waxing and lashes. Leah is our nail specialist and loves to carry out manicures and pedicures, in particular our range of BIAB treatments. As I mentioned earlier, I love massage and have a diplomas in manicures, pedicures,  Swedish and hot stone massage,  facials as well as VWax certification.

Your aim is to be the most relaxed beauty salon in Cornwall, how do you achieve this?

Unlike retail salons and nail bars, our specialism is relaxation. This means all our treatment profiles are designed to make clients feel calm and soothed, rather than hurried out of the door. Our therapists take real pride in this, and clients often comment on how refreshed they feel after one of our treatments.

You recently won Cornwall Beauty Salon of the Year in England’s Business Awards, congratulations! What was the process for achieving this award?

We were extremely proud to be named Cornwall’s Beauty Salon of the Year. We were initially nominated for this award by some of our clients and after that we had an inspection from a mystery client to assess our whole customer experience, from booking online to leaving the salon. After that, our regular clients were invited to vote for us – and we won! After the awards evening we took the whole  team out for a well deserved glass of bubbles.

How can our guests book a treatment with you?

Most of our clients prefer to book online from our website, where they can view all our treatments, choose a specific therapist and time slot. We are also happy to take bookings over the phone, our number is 01872 262844. If there is no answer during opening hours, it is because all our therapists are delivering treatments. We politely request that clients leave a message with their phone number, and we will return their call at the earliest opportunity.
