Alverton Recipes: Festive Yuletide Sour

Enjoyed one of our festive cocktails this season? Whip up your very own with our Bar Manager Simon's Christmas recipe.

Yuletide Sour

Impress your nearest and dearest this year with a hand-crafted Yuletide Sour. Featuring orange vodka and cinnamon syrup you can’t get more Christmassy than this. So grab your fanciest cocktail glasses, put on some Mariah and get ready to rock around the Christmas tree with this easy to follow recipe.

Ingredients

  • 40ml orange vodka
  • 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • Miraculous Foamer or egg white
  • 20ml cinnamon syrup

Method

  • Fill the cocktail glass and a cocktail shaker with ice to chill
  • Pour all the ingredients into the cocktail shaker
  • Put the other half of the shaker on top and give it a good tap to lock it in
  • Shake heavily (the ice needs to be smashed up whilst it’s chilling the liquid inside – this is what creates the creamy top)
  • Once shaken, tap the side of the shaker
  • Empty the ice out of the cocktail glass
  • Place the strainer on top of the shaker and pour the contents through a sieve directly into the glass
  • Garnish with Edible Flowers and Star Anise to complete the look

To really wow your guests serve in a delicate Nick and Nora glass with a side of mince pies. Let us know how you get on by sharing your creations on Facebook and Instagram.
