The Great Christmas Market: 5th December 2021

We’re so excited to be hosting our first ever ‘Great Christmas Market’ at The Alverton.

As part of our festive calendar, this merry day will be hosted in our historic Great Hall on Sunday 5th December. Join us from 10am until 8pm to discover Cornwall’s top creatives and makers, selling crafts, art, jewellery, spirits, artisan treats and more until 6pm. There will be plenty of goodies to inspire your Christmas gift list – and not only perfect stocking fillers for loved ones, but a few for yourself too!

We will also be hosting a number of festive masterclasses and workshops throughout the day. These sessions will get you feeling crafty and help you celebrate the season in style. More to be announced soon, including wreath making sessions and Christmas cocktail shaking. And our chefs will be providing a decadent food and drink offering in our restaurant and on the terrace for you to indulge in.

And finally, Christmas carol singers will be singing merry tunes from 2pm until 4pm. Then local musician Ashley Harding from will perform some cheery classics from 4.15pm onwards. Their sweet and seasonal notes will get us all into the festive spirit of things!

Christmas feast workshop

THIS WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT

Our Executive Chef Nick Hodges will be hosting a festive filled workshop in the Courtyard lounge from midday until 1pm, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn his top tips and tricks in creating the ultimate Christmas feast.

Learn how to cook a delicious four bird roast, how to make the perfect roast potatoes and even discover Nick’s secrets to making his divine Christmas gravy. This is a Christmas day feast to be savoured.

All tickets include recipe cards and a glass of mulled wine. You’ll also have the opportunity to taste all of Nick’s festive creations.

Christmas wine pairing workshop

Join expert sommelier and wine connoisseur Yohann in our Courtyard lounge from 6pm until 7.30pm for a festive wine pairing workshop.

Spend the evening discovering the perfect pairings for your Christmas day feast, the wines that will wow your guests around the dinner table and new varieties that will tantalise your tastebuds.

All tickets include wine pairings to taste and a selection of festive food plates (both savoury and sweet).

Festive afternoon tea

Served throughout the day, our festive afternoon tea is the ultimate way to get into the Christmas mood and spread the joy of the yuletide season.

Think seasonal sandwiches, Christmassy cakes and moreish desserts, warm home-baked scones and other sweet delights, alongside a glass of piping hot mulled wine.
