The Alverton’s Favourite Autumn Walks in Cornwall

Looking for the best autumn walks in Cornwall? We've got you covered with our top five places to visit this season.

From leafy pathways that ramble along estuaries to giant cliffs that plunge into the sea, Cornwall is a walker's paradise - especially in Autumn. Discover our mining heritage, our 300 miles of coastline, as well as hidden coves, hideaways and woodland walks in our top five autumn walks to do this season.

1. Tehidy Woods

With over nine miles of paths and 250 acres of peaceful woodland and lakes to explore, Tehidy is the perfect place to visit for Autumn. Formerly the estate of the Bassets, who was one of the four most powerful families in Cornwall. The woodland estate now belongs to Cornwall Council, offering visitors the chance to stroll around the lake. Visitors can also immerse themselves with the rich flora and fauna or explore the leafy glades and wilder areas.

2. Botallack Mine

Once a hub for Cornish mining activity, the remains of Botallack Mine is a sight to see up close. The brutal natural landscape offers an array of interesting visuals along the coastal path. The white water crashing around its base will definitely blow away the cobwebs. Explore today and take in that crisp sea air!

3. Zennor

A relaxing walk through fields along the coastal path offers shelter against the strong winds during the autumn months on this walk in Zennor. Finishing up on the moor, this area was widely used by a number of west Cornwall artists, with Patrick Heron’s house sitting above the village to the east.

4. Kynance Cove

The most southerly point in England, this breath-taking serpentine-filled land is constantly being battered by the elements from the Atlantic Ocean. With giant rock formations and a stunning white beach below, follow the cliffs steps, as you creep along the edge of England. Untameable weather definitely makes for a fantastic coastal walk during the wilder seasons.

5. Tintagel Castle to Boscastle

Offering some of the best views in England, the stretch from Tintagel Castle to Boscastle really is an impressive hike. Starting at the castle, where King Arthur is said to have lived, head north along the coast, where you can spot endless amounts of seabirds before finishing in the charming town of Boscastle.
