Ollie’s ‘Taste of Kernow’ seafood feast
Indulge in a seafood feast at our intimate tasting evening this summer. Led by the talented Head Chef, Ollie Wyatt, this event will showcase Cornwall’s fishing heritage and unparalleled seafood scene. Championing the very best local suppliers, each fish dish is heavily influenced by Cornish tales and recipes, passed down for generations.
Join us on Saturday 3rd June in The Library at The Alverton for our seafood evening in Cornwall. The night forms part of our ‘Taste of Truro’ series – an exploration of the incredible flavours of our county.
Sample the sea in six courses
Paying tribute to the ancient traditions of Cornwall’s seafaring history, Ollie has carefully curated a bespoke, six-course tasting menu, from delights found in the deep blue. A wonderful way to sample new flavours and ingredients, each dish has been thoughtfully prepared for a truly memorable dining experience.
Follow our guided taste tour around the coastlines of Cornwall. Firstly, our starters will take you to the depths of the Cornish continental shelf, for a rich monkfish soup, complemented with hits of sharp grapefruit, mellowed with fresh cucumber. Then next up are our nation’s favourite crustaceans – line-caught lobster and crab. Served in a cocktail salad, accompanied by hand-foraged samphire from the shoreline, as well as sourdough from the local bakery.
Then, once your taste-buds are warmed up, Ollie will be searing mackerel for the third course. The unmistakable black and turquoise tiger-striped fish will feature in this dish, with barbecued sweetcorn. The main event is a prize catch in the south west waters – turbot. The meaty flat fish will be served as a T-bone with courgette, red pepper, tarragon, and white crab. Finally, end the evening on a zesty note with our passionfruit delice, paired with a smooth, white chocolate sorbet.
