Born and raised in Cornwall, there’s not a better advocate for the county than Larissa. The Guest Relations Manager grew up right here in Truro and hasn’t strayed too far from home since.
Sticking to the Cornish coast, at 18 Larissa headed to Falmouth University where she not only studied for a degree in Broadcasting, but she also had the opportunity to head to Sweden for six months. This experience gave her a real taste for travel and she’s been a keen explorer ever since.
After university, Larissa began a career in customer service and soon found herself at The Alverton working as a receptionist. Before long she worked her way up the ranks, becoming an Events Manager before gaining her most recent title of Guest Relations Manager.
Now with nine years’ experience at The Alverton under her belt, Larissa is the go-to for ensuring our guests always have an exceptional experience when they stay with us.
The people are definitely the best part about my role – both the guests and the team I work with. I also have a real passion for travel. So getting to meet our international guests is always really fun! I love to find out more about where they’re from and their culture.
Definitely with my family exploring new places. I love spending time exploring. Even though I grew up here, there’s always somewhere new to visit that I haven’t been to yet.
While I do love visiting Cornwall’s beaches in the summer, I think there’s something really special about seeing them in the winter too. There’s no better feeling than bundling up in a coat and wellies, and going out for a blustery walk with your family.
Although I will always vouch for pasties and a cream tea, it’s amazing how many incredible producers there are here now! Especially drinks producers, like Trevibban Mill, Healey’s, Camel Valley. The list is endless.
I really love Truro. There’s just so much to do here. There’s lots of things hidden away in Truro that people don’t necessarily know about, like the incredible river walks and lots of beautiful gardens too.
I also like to discover all of the small independent shops and cafes dotted about, and the cobbled streets give it such a magical feeling when you’re wandering around.
