We’re perched on the outskirts of Truro, the perfect destination to wander the charming cobbled streets and soak up all the city has to offer, from the stunning cathedral, carol singers, late-night shopping and street food, to artisan coffee spots and unique independent shops. We recommend visiting local light displays, embracing the waters with an annual Christmas Day swim, and heading to a Cornish bakery to try a special festive version of our local delicacies.

23rd December

Enter through the grand doors of our historical hotel and be welcomed with a festive greeting by our friendly team. On arrival, you will receive a cocktail voucher to enjoy at any point during your stay. After checking in and dropping off your luggage, head over to The Oak and enjoy a warm mince pie and a mini Cornish cream tea, while listening to the sweet sounds of pianist Roger Miners.

Poldark murder mystery evening
As the evening approaches, feel free to dress up in your festive finest for a Poldark-themed murder mystery in our Great Hall. Enjoy a drinks tower on arrival, before sharing a table with your fellow detectives and tucking into a lavish four-course dinner.

Christmas Eve

Start your day with a hearty breakfast while taking in the beautiful scenery of our winter gardens. Afterwards, why not take a leisurely stroll into Truro and finish up any last-minute Christmas shopping? Or, enjoy a morning of festive arts and crafts in The Oak, where you’ll learn to make unique homemade decorations. Then, join us for a delightful wine and cheese pairing experience in The Oak that is sure to leave you feeling merry. Later in the evening, indulge in a delicious dinner in our restaurant and perhaps a warming tipple or two in our cosy bar. If you’re attending Midnight Mass in Truro, we will be ready to greet you with a warm mug of hot chocolate upon your return.

Christmas Day

The big day has arrived, but rest assured that our experienced team will be pulling out all the stops to make it a magical and memorable one for you. Wake to a surprise on your door – Santa has been! Start the day off with a delicious Buck’s fizz breakfast and some more special surprises for adults and children alike. For those who are feeling courageous, we are only a short drive away from the beach where you can brave a traditional Christmas Day swim. If staying warm and cosy is more your style, then enjoy a lazy morning unwrapping presents and cuddling up next to the fire.

At lunchtime, enjoy a delicious feast brimming with all of your festive favourites with an Alverton twist. Then head to The Oak for 3pm to watch the annual King’s speech. If you’re still feeling peckish, don’t fret because in the evening you can indulge in our buffet feast of Cornish delicacies. End the big day by sinking into a comfy armchair to watch a movie with a box of popcorn in hand.

Boxing Day

After a restful night’s sleep, tuck into a delicious hearty breakfast, then spend the morning at your leisure. Relax with a book by the fire before heading out from 11am for an exciting trail around our historic city. On your return, tuck into a warming Cornish lunch with pasties and soup. In the evening, prepare for some festive fun with our selection of board games ready for your entertainment. To wrap up the day, tuck into a farewell dinner in our Great Hall and enjoy a showstopping send-off!

27th December

Join us in the restaurant one last time for a delicious breakfast to set you up for your travels home, as we wish you all the best for 2026 with a goodie bag to take with you.

Christmas break rates are based on two people sharing a room. Additional guests and sole occupancy rates are available upon request. We require a £100 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance is due by 31st October 2025 and is non-refundable after this time. Dogs are charged at £20 per night and includes a water and food bowl for the night, and some gourmet treats for them to enjoy.
