‘Taste of Truro’: a celebration of local seasonal produce
Join us on Saturday 9th September for our next tasting evening in Cornwall, as part of our ‘Taste of Truro’ series.
A veggie tasting evening in Cornwall
On Saturday 9th September, The Alverton kitchen will be bursting with the very best of Cornwall’s home-grown crops, as we get ready to celebrate the bounty of the vegetable harvest.
Head Chef, Ollie Wyatt, is hosting this intimate tasting evening in Cornwall to showcase one of the most underrated food groups – the vegetables! With a six-course plant-based menu, complemented with a selection of locally-sourced dairy, experience dishes where vegetables are the star of the show.
A celebration of Cornwall’s vegetable harvest
From earthy purple-pink beetroot and nutty, sweet celeriac, to powerful mint and tart gooseberries, each plant’s unique flavour properties are appreciated and thoughtfully cooked to extract the very best from each ingredient.
Start the green feast with a lettuce soup and creme fraiche, before moving onto a beetroot and apple starter, watercress and celeriac risotto, and pea, beans and radish main course. Finish on a sweet note, with a gooseberry donut served with sheep milk ice cream, and a pear terrine with Bath blue cheese.
An immersive dining experience
Our ‘Taste of Cornwall’ series isn’t just about delicious food and good company. We’ll be delving a little deeper into the origin and inspiration behind the dishes, to create an immersive dining experience that sparks conversation between courses.
We’ll be joined by Head Chef, Ollie Wyatt, who will be giving your tastebuds a tour of Cornwall’s hero vegetables from the ground up. Soak up the culinary knowledge and ask any burning questions, as Ollie provides his expert insight in this area of cuisine.
Add an extra layer of indulgence to our tasting evening in Cornwall, with our six-course wine flight, for an extra £25 per person. Our expert sommelier, Holly Bennetts, has personally selected six bottles from the wine cellars that are impeccably matched with our menu.
