Winter Gin Festival
With dry January a thing of the past, it’s time to indulge in your favourite tipples. If you’re a lover of gin, this is one to mark in your diary. Our sister hotel, The Greenbank, are hosting a gin-tastic festival, full of local distilleries and craft gin suppliers, live music and tasty treats. Head to their Eventbrite page for tickets.
Delicate white petals blooming across the county mark the impending arrival of spring. Head to Pencarrow House and Gardens on one of these Sundays, when the gardens will be open for visitors to admire the pretty flowers in all their glory. A suggested donation of £5 is recommended at this charity led floral event. All the proceeds go towards the two chosen charities, CLEAR and Parkinsons Research.
St Ives Feast and Hurling the Silver Ball
St Ives Feast Day is an ancient tradition, where the coastal town celebrates the anniversary of the consecration of the Parish Church of St Eia in 1434. A civil procession takes place through the winding streets, ending with a blessing by the Mayor at St la Well near Porthmeor Beach.
Once the blessing is completed, one of Cornwall’s oldest sports – the traditional hurling of the silver ball – commences. This involves a giant silver ball being roll around St Ives. Get involved in this special day in the town’s history this month.
