Watch the world go by...

With Truro, you can experience the best of both worlds. A gorgeous city full of character and things to do, it offers the ideal balance between city exploring and a seaside break. Rather than making a beeline for a coastal location, opting to stay inland is a great way to avoid the crowds. And Truro is so central to accessing all the Cornish gems across the county. Come see for yourself.

"Walls are painted in a well-chosen Farrow and Ball deep grey, whose tones shift to green and slate blue as the light changes. Leather arm chairs, and bespoke upholstery by Ralph Lauren – think distressed tapestry or slick stone-hued checks. Superb bathrooms – walk-in showers have heads the size of a pizza – with contemporary floors and toiletries by The White Company."
Ros Belford, The Telegraph
"Seek refuge in The Chapel Suite and you’ll sleep under original beamed ceilings and wake to colourful light streaming through. A stay here promises comfort and chic in equal measures: unwind in the roll-top copper bath as the sunlight fades through the stained-glass window above."
Food Magazine Review
"The two AA-rosette awarded restaurant overlooks the hotel's lawns and vistas, while each bedroom marries classic stately home touches with contemporary, quirky interiors."
Glamour Magazine
"The Chapel Suite features beautiful vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, bespoke furniture, a gorgeous free-standing copper bathtub, and all the amenities you’d expect for a luxury stay."
Kris Martinez, lifestyle blogger
"The junior suites each have a sexily exposed roll-top bath-tub in the bedroom. Fill the bath with bubbles and flutes with champagne for the full Marie Antoinette experience."
Telegraph Travel
"The Alverton offers its visitors country glamour in the centre of a city. The former convent sits proudly on a hill offering a stunning welcome as you travel up the driveway through tall trees, which provide beautiful framing for the now hotel."
The Wordrobe Review
"There's a wealth of history in its ceiling beams."
The West Briton
“The 18th-century grade II listed hotel has preserved its historical charm with its original features, while verdant grounds, stylish interiors and modern luxuries provide the charm of an urban chic getaway. Most of Cornwall’s best hotels are by the sea, but The Alverton is cocooned away from the city and the crowd-strewn beaches. Literally hidden from view by ancient trees, you could drive past the hotel and not even know it’s there. But that’s the beauty of this little piece of tranquillity – it offers urban dwellers a much needed serene escape. And with an idyllic backdrop of manicured gardens, you won’t miss the coastal views.”
