What’s On in Cornwall This January 2020

There'll be no time for the January blues with all the fun things going on in Cornwall this month. Happy New Year everyone!

1ST JANUARY: TRURO CHORAL SOCIETY NEW YEAR'S DAY CONCERT, TRURO CATHEDRAL

1ST AND 3RD JANUARY: STORYTELLING FOR CHRISTMAS, THE MINACK THEATRE, PORTHCURNO

Where: 1 hour drive from The Alverton

Cram in some last minute festive fun in January with "Storytelling for Christmas" at The Minack Theatre. The unique venue features the gorgeous backdrop of the Cornish ocean and Porthcurno Beach.

UNTIL 5TH JANUARY: TITANIC STORIES, THE NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM, FALMOUTH

Where: 30 minute drive from The Alverton

Discover rare and never-seen-before objects from the Titanic in the National Maritime Museum's current exhibition. Wander through the museum perched on Falmouth's harbour and peruse personal photographs, letters, newspaper cuttings and other compelling items from the Titanic disaster. This will be your last chance to see it all, before they launch their next exhibition in March.

1ST - 31ST JANUARY: RUN CREW SESSIONS, TRURO

If you're planning on being more active for January, why not join the Run Crew? With groups in Falmouth and Truro, make new friends and become part of a group that loves jogging and encourages members of all abilities.

1ST - 31ST JANUARY: ICE-SKATING AT THE EDEN PROJECT, ST AUSTELL

Where: 40 minute drive from The Alverton

Whether you're a seasoned pro or giving a new sport a go this January, take to the ice at the Eden Project's rink. Ice-skating at Eden is open until 23rd February, so plenty of time to strap your skates on at Cornwall's only indoor rink!

3RD, 10TH, 17TH, 24TH AND 31ST JANUARY: FIZZ AND CHIP FRIDAYS, THE ALVERTON, TRURO

Part theory, part practical, embrace your inner gardener with apple tree pruning workshops at National Trust Cotehele. Taking part in the orchard, tools are provided and run by the Cotehele gardeners, so wrap up warm for this winter workshop.

12TH JANUARY: NORTH CORNWALL POINT TO POINT, ROYAL CORNWALL EVENTS CENTRE, WADEBRIDGE

Gallop into the new year and trot on down to the North Cornwall Point To Point horse racing event on 12th January, hosted at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre in Wadebridge. Trade stands and light refreshments will be available, and this equestrian event is open to everyone.

7TH, 14TH AND 21ST JANUARY: HISTORICAL GARDEN TOURS, THE LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN, ST AUSTELL

Take a tour of The Lost Gardens of Heligan with experienced guide David Hogg. A relaxed and informal experience, learn all about the fascinating history behind Europe's largest garden restoration project.

18TH JANUARY: PRICKLES AND PAWS WILDLIFE WATCH WITH CORNWALL WILDLIFE TRUST, FIVE ACRES RESERVE, TRURO

Where: 15 minute drive from The Alverton

One for the children this January, take your little ones along to this educational nature trail and wildlife watch with Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Follow the brilliant hedgehog rescue team on the prickles and paws wildlife watch, and learn all about these adorable prickly creatures.

22ND - 26TH JANUARY: HELSTON THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS "ALADDIN" , EPWORTH HALL, HELSTON

Be transported to a whole new world with Helston Theatre Company's magical rendition of "Aladdin". Expect a brilliant family-friendly production complete with dazzling costumes, exceptional sets and impressive special effects as the Cornish theatre company tells the tale of Aladdin, the genie and the Princess.
