An evening of exciting celebrations took place this month as businesses from across Cornwall gathered for this year’s tourism awards. The Alverton was shortlisted in one of the most hotly contested categories - Large Hotel of the Year.
Throughout the summer the judges visit hotels, B&Bs, cafes, spas, restaurants and attractions across Cornwall to determine who deserves to be honoured at their annual ceremony. In total they made 131 mystery visits.
The Alverton was announced as a finalist in the Large Hotel of the Year category in September, which in itself was a real honour.
The ceremony took place on the 3rd November, with special guest Olympic rowing champion Helen Glover, and on the night The Alverton was awarded bronze!
“I’m so proud of the team - winning this award so soon after receiving our silver AA rating is testament to how hard they work” said Paul Ricketts, General Manager.
“These awards are not about being good,” said awards organiser Robin Barker. “They are about excellence in what is one of the world’s largest, fastest growing and most innovative industries.
To be a winner in a destination with the standing of Cornwall is something winners should take great pride in.”
We’re absolutely delighted at receiving our Cornwall Tourism Award and as we edge closer to the end of 2017, we hope 2018 will be just as great.
