Escape to the heart of Cornwall and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at The Alverton.
Celebrate Christmas at The Alverton
Christmas Breaks in Cornwall
For Christmas breaks in Cornwall, look no further. Check into our historic hotel dressed with dazzling Christmas trees, twinkling lights and bows of holly. Prepare to create magical memories full of Cornish traditions, award-winning food, toasty tipples by the roaring fire and heaps of festive fun. We’ll be roasting the turkey, shaking the cocktails and spreading the seasonal cheer. Settle in and enjoy a truly Cornish Christmas that you’ll look back on fondly for years to come.
We’re perched on the outskirts of Truro, the perfect destination to wander the charming cobbled streets and soak up all the city has to offer. From the stunning cathedral, carol singers, late night shopping and street food to artisan coffee spots and unique independent shops. We recommend visiting local light displays, embracing the waters with an annual Christmas Day swim and heading to a Cornish bakery to try a special festive version of our local delicacies.
When you’re done with exploring, make your way back to The Alverton. We’ll be serving winter cocktails, yuletide-inspired cuisine and seasonal entertainment for the whole family. We look forward to welcoming you for a Christmas that’s merry and bright!
All planned activities and entertainment are subject to government permissions in regard to the control of COVID-19. Where some aspects may not be permitted we will endeavour to provide an appropriate alternative.
Your festive Alverton experience begins with a jolly welcome from the team accompanied by a glass of fizz. Check in, drop your suitcases off and head down to The Library for a mulled wine, warm mince pie and mini Cornish cream tea. In the evening, we’ll be starting as we mean to go on with a lavish five-course gala dinner in The Great Hall.
After your first night, rise and shine with a hearty breakfast overlooking the frosted lawns of our beautiful private gardens. Soak up the festivities with a stroll into Truro and finish that last-minute spot of Christmas shopping. Later, return to The Great Hall for a wonderful wine tasting sure to have you feeling merry. We’ll be serving a four-course dinner in the restaurant and the drinks will be flowing in the bar. If you’re attending Midnight Mass in Truro, we’ll have a warm mug of hot chocolate, ready for your return.
Start Christmas Day on a high with a Buck’s fizz breakfast and some special surprises. If you’re feeling brave, make your way to one of Cornwall’s beaches for the traditional Christmas Day swim, or take it easy with a lazy morning unwrapping presents, indulging in some festive tipples or stretching your legs with a laid-back stroll through the gardens. We’ll take care of the cooking, so you can leave peeling the potatoes, preparing the turkey and flambéing the Christmas pudding to us. Your only job will be to pull your crackers, eat unforgettable food and be merry!
We will also have an evening feast bursting with all your seasonal favourites and some Cornish delicacies for those still peckish after the delicious four-course feast at lunchtime. End the day sinking into a comfy armchair by the roaring fireplace for the ultimate relaxation.
We’re continuing the Christmas spirit with a very Cornish lunch, including pasties and our chef’s homemade soup, the perfect winter warmers. We’ll be joined by some feathery friends, as the Birds of Prey return to The Alverton for a 2pm show out on our terrace. In the evening, the board games will be at the ready.
Join us in the restaurant one last time for a delicious breakfast to set you up for your travels home as we wish you a happy new year and hope to welcome you back again soon!
