Meet our Receptionist, Hannah Gifford

Meet The Alverton’s Receptionist & Group Booking Co-Ordinator

Our receptionist, Hannah, was born and bred in Cornwall. She recently joined our team at The Alverton ten months ago and hasn’t looked back since. A lover of all things travel, Hannah began her career working at a travel agency before joining The Alverton’s reception team.

Hannah has loved the travel industry from a young age and also has a keen interest in aviation. Always planning her next flight or cruise, one of Hannah’s favourite places in the world is Disneyland and she’s hoping to get back to the most magical place on earth as soon as she can.

As well as being our receptionist, Hannah is a Group Booking Co-Ordinator for our sister hotel, The Greenbank, too.

What’s your favourite thing about working at The Alverton?

My favourite thing about working at The Alverton is that every day is completely different. I love being able to welcome all our guests to this beautiful hotel and ensure they all have an incredible experience. Meeting people from all over the world and seeing how happy they are during their stay makes my day.

What’s your favourite Cornish delicacy?

My favourite Cornish delicacy would have to be a good old Cornish pasty or a cream tea. As long as the jam and cream are put on the right way of course! It’s always a real treat getting to sit down in the sunshine on the terrace with an afternoon tea, watching the world go by.

How would you describe a holiday to Cornwall?

You can guarantee that any holiday to Cornwall will be action packed! With its beautiful coastline and blue flag beaches, to world-famous attractions, sub-tropical gardens and historical houses, there is something for everyone to see and do.

What do you love about Truro?

It is such a diverse city and has lots of fantastic shops! Shopping is especially magical in the winter too, when the Christmas lights come out. I also love how Truro is situated within easy distance of all the key attractions that you have to visit when staying in Cornwall.

Where would you recommend as the ‘must-see’ place for anyone visiting Cornwall?

I would recommend Trelissick Garden. It has views out towards Falmouth and St Mawes and offers beautiful scenic walks. I love wandering around the garden and the estate itself. It’s ever changing. It doesn’t matter what season you visit – there is always something different to see.

Finally, can you sum up The Alverton in three words?

Tranquil hidden gem!
