We currently have the following job vacancies at our busy four silver star, two AA Rosette hotel in Truro:

Receptionist & Reservationist

Full-time, Permanent

The reception team are looking for an enthusiastic person to join them. You will be responsible for providing a friendly, welcoming and efficient service to all hotel guests, ensuring their stay is enjoyable from the moment they arrive to the moment they depart. Working 5 days out of 7, shifts will be variable from week to week.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake front of house duties, including meeting, greeting and attending to the needs of guests, to ensure an excellent customer service experience 
  • To build a good rapport with all guests and resolve any complaints/issues quickly to ensure they have a wonderful stay
  • Be responsible for accurate and efficient accounts and guest billing processes
  • Assist in keeping the hotel reception area clean and tidy at all times
  • Undertake general office duties, including correspondence, emails, filing and switchboard to ensure the smooth running of the reception area
  • To administer all reservations to ensure that room bookings are made and recorded accurately
  • To keep up to date with room prices and special offers thereby providing accurate information to guests
  • Report any maintenance, breakage or cleanliness problems to the relevant manager
  • Administer the general petty cash system and float in an accurate manner
  • Undertake all training as required (eg, first aid, health and safety, customer service)
  • Adhere to all fire safety test procedures and to assist in the evacuation process in the event of fire

 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A friendly and welcoming approach
  • High standards of dress and presentation
  • Ability to remain calm during difficult situations or in a very busy environment
  • The ability to work unsupervised
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a pleasant telephone manner
  • Good administrative skills and the ability to use email and booking systems
  • Good team working skills
  • Working knowledge of Hotel Perfect software would be advantageous, but not essential

Restaurant Manager

We are looking for a Restaurant Manager to lead our two Rosette worthy restaurant. You will deliver a high-quality menu and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service. 
The restaurant manager's responsibilities includes maintaining revenue, profitability and quality goals. You will ensure efficient restaurant operation, as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. To be successful in this role, you’ll need management skills and experience in both front and back of the house. We want you to know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with
customers and balance seating capacity. Back of the house management experience is also essential, as you’ll hire waiting staff, do the rota, oversee food prep and make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations.

We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have a pleasant dining experiences.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations
  • Deliver amazing service and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
  • Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
  • Organize and supervise shifts
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
  • Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
  • Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices

 

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
  • Proven experience as a manager
  • Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, with ability to train the waiting staff
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, like OpenTable and MaitreD
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Acute financial management skills

Pastry Chef

We are looking for a professional and dedicated individual to run our pastry department.

You will have previous experience being able to manage the preparation and service of our weddings, functions and award-winning restaurant. You will be working in our fully equipped pastry room and be independent from the main kitchen.

This role will suit a motivated and skillful chef de partie looking for their first big break, or a proven head of pastry. All references will be checked thoroughly, so please supply contacts with your application.

Bar Server

Full time, permanent

We're looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and forward thinking person to join our bar team. With lots of guests as well as functions and weddings The Alverton is a busy place. There is also opportunity for progression within the role to a supervisor level. You must be positive, approachable and happy to chat to our guests making them feel welcome and at home in the hotel. Experience is essential and applicants must be 18 years old or over.
