HOTEL RECEPTIONIST

First impressions count. From the moment a guest enquires about a stay, right up until they check-out, the reception team are the first point of contact.

Being part of The Alverton’s reception team is a vital role and you will often be the first face or voice a customer will see or hear. A warm, welcoming and friendly disposition is a must, and communication and organisational skills are important too.

We’re currently recruiting a receptionist to join our front desk team. The role is full time on a permanent contract, 40 hour pro rata salary. Our reception works on shifts – mornings, evenings, straights and weekends (no splits).

We’re looking for someone ideally with one year’s experience; however, full training will be given. We need someone who can work on their own with good customer service skills, and who is confident, willing to learn, always happy to help, uses their own initiative and has a “can do” attitude.

Responsibilities include:

  • Customer service – first point of call for our guests arriving at the hotel and during their stay
  • Room reservations and enquiries
  • Restaurant bookings
  • Good communication skills via email, phone and face-to-face
  • Dealing with third party booking agents
  • Handling cash and card transactions
  • Cashing up and balancing reception tills

GUEST ROOM CLEANER

Our housekeeping team play a crucial role in ensuring that our four-star hotel is clean, fresh and tidy for all of our guests. You will need an eye for detail and take pride in contributing towards making our guests feel comfortable in their surroundings. Be that within the hotel, restaurant or their rooms.

This role will be on a zero hour contract and may include weekends and bank holidays, depending upon the rota in force, but will be predominantly mornings. Experience in a similar role would be preferred.

Salary: Up to £8.91 per hour.

BARTENDER

We are on the hunt for dynamic bartenders to come join our team. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic bartenders who are happy serving guests on the floor as well as behind the bar. You can expect on-going training as well as support and individual coaching by some of the biggest brands in the world.

Multi-tasking skills are highly desired, managing a high volume of drinks on either our terrace bar, restaurant bar, oak room and The Great Hall.

Previous experience working in fast-paced environments is preferred but not essential. Being able to make cocktails with speed and precision as well as a great flat white is highly desired.

We are very much a team at The Alverton, so being a team player is essential, as well as being able to communicate effectively with all team members within the hotel.

Skills and experience in:

  • Hospitality: one year (preferred)
  • Customer Service: one year (preferred)
  • Bartending: one year (required)

Job duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders and serving beverages to guests in accordance with company standards
  • Ensure that the bar, front-of-house, and other areas are clean and maintained
  • Other duties as requested

Should be able to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

HEAD BARTENDER

Ideally you will have previous experience as a bar manager, assistant bar manager or head bartender. This is a chance to make the bar your own.

We are looking for a creative force – someone who looks outside of the box. We are looking to push our offering to the locals of Truro and for Cornwall as a whole. You must be willing to put in the work, find solutions and create memorable experiences for all the guests that come through the door.

Skills and experience in:

  • Being a leader for a small dedicated team
  • Encourage growth and training with your team
  • Enthusiastic when it comes to all things drinks and service
  • Team player, not just with the bar, but the whole hotel
  • Hospitality: two years (preferred)
  • Bartending: two years (preferred)

Job duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders and serving beverages to guests in accordance with company standards
  • Ensure that the bar, front-of-house, and other areas are clean and maintained
  • Other duties as requested

RESTAURANT MANAGER

The Alverton hotel is looking for an experienced restaurant manager. This is a full time position for someone who is willing to create a wonderful working environment. We have a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere within the hotel for our guests. We are very much a team environment, so someone who fits into our culture is a must.

The role itself is very dynamic, and no two days are the same.

Skills and experience in:

  • Managing a team of 30+ staff
  • Being hands-on in a role, managing the restaurant and terrace areas (+90)
  • Experience in scheduling staff training is essential
  • A problem solver
