Truro City Bonfire Night

Get your woolly jumpers and warm gloves ready – Bonfire Night is almost here.
After being cancelled last year, Truro City’s annual Bonfire Night celebration is back.
Bask in the warmth of a bonfire, followed by a spectacular firework display and then head to The Alverton’s bar to warm up with a hot tipple.
Gates open at 5pm. The event is £3 entry (cash only) and all proceeds will be donated to The Invictus Trust.
The Alverton Thursday Cocktail Club: two for £10
This event takes place at The Alverton, in the bar.
Start the weekend early with our cocktail club featuring the most delicious hand-crafted tipples. Starting from 5pm until late our talented bar team will be shaking things up with a tantalizing selection of drinks.
No need to book, just head to our stylish bar and place your order.
Artisan Market Truro
A 10 minute stroll from The Alverton
Browse over 50 stalls at Truro’s ever-popular Artisan Market. With fantastic makers, artists and crafters showcasing creations from gin to jewellery and handmade homeware, you’re guaranteed to find something you love.
Held in the beautiful and historic Truro Cathedral, spend the morning doing some Christmas shopping followed by a delicious two or three course lunch at The Alverton.

The RMS Titanic: A Murder Mystery
A 30 minute drive from The Alverton
What could be better than a murder mystery night? How about one set on the Titanic? While we can’t promise Leonardo DiCaprio will be there, the team from Murder by Appointment are guaranteed to put on a spectacular show at this immersive dining experience.
Starting at 6.30pm, enjoy a drink on arrival before taking your seat for the main event. A delicious three-course dinner will be served with a side of scandal, mystery and murder. Starters will be served at 7pm.
Each crucial scene will unfold before your eyes in between courses. The secrets, relationships and actions of each character will be revealed. It is your job to crack the code, deliberate over the clues and unmask the killer! You’ll be able to quiz the suspects and delve deeper into their potential motives and movements during the evening at this immersive dining experience.

Festive Friday: Truro’s Christmas light switch on
A 15 minute walk from The Alverton.
It’s that time of year again, and what better way to kick it off the Christmas season than with Cornwall’s most famous Christmas light switch on.
Festive Friday is Truro’s annual festive extravaganza.
Spend the daytime browsing for Christmas gifts at the Big Festive Shop Small Market at Lemon Quay, followed by a night of special entertainment organised by Hall for Cornwall.
Get a mulled wine and a bag of roasted chestnuts in hand ready for the big Christmas light switch on at 7pm on King’s Street, followed by a parade led by the one and only Father Christmas himself.
‘Taste of Truro’ Game Evening
This event takes place at The Alverton, in The Library.
Join our Head Chef Ollie Wyatt for an intimate tasting evening, that will be a celebration of Cornwall’s incredible game meat offering.
Indulge in a five course tasting menu that incorporates Ollie’s carefully curated dishes with heavy influences of traditional Cornish recipes and a modern Alverton twist.
While savouring each course, revel in the theatre of the evening as you listen to Ollie introduce and explain each element of his perfectly curated menu, providing you with an insight into each dish at this unique event.
The evening is part of our ‘Taste of Truro’ series where our chefs highlight the very best seafood, grass-fed meats and harvest from our ‘Great Little City’.
