Looking for the top things to do in Cornwall in August? From vibrant music festivals, to sailing regattas, and summer BBQs, there's something for everyone this season.

6th - 10th August

Boardmasters Festival – Newquay

With the stunning Cornish coastline as its backdrop, Boardmasters is back once again for five days of epic music, pro surfing and a balmy beach lifestyle. 

Expect big names like Raye, Central Cee, and The Prodigy to grace the main stage, while the sun sets over the sea. From silent discos and yoga classes to outdoor cinemas and secret after parties – Boardmasters 2025 is set to be one to remember.

Summer BBQs on The Terrace – The Alverton

Perched on the outskirts of Truro, our peaceful oasis is the perfect spot to kick-start your weekend. We’re firing up the grill every Friday evening this summer.

Between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, we’ll be serving a weekly-changing BBQ menu featuring prime flame-grilled meats, fresh seafood, and delicious sides. Each week, we’ll also have vegetarian and vegan options available. Pre-book or simply turn up and tuck in.

8th – 15th August

Falmouth Week

Falmouth Week is one of the top things to do in Cornwall in August, with a sailing regatta, shoreside entertainment, and fireworks spectacular. What’s more, our sister hotels are right at the heart of it all.

Friday 8th – Kick off the celebrations at The Greenbank with their Pink Wig Pre-Party, before the joyful Pink Wig Mermaid March.

Wednesday 13th – Head to The Falmouth for front row seats to the Red Arrows aerial display, followed by live music from Bryher’s Boys.

Friday 15th – Enjoy live music from Falmouth Soul Sensation, and a fireworks display on The Greenbank’s private quay.

16th August

The Working Boat's 10th Birthday Party

On Saturday 16th August, The Working Boat will be having a lively birthday gathering from 5pm. Expect live music in the marquee from local singer-songwriter Mog Jones, a warm welcome, and a drink on the house – every guest will receive a free pint, glass of wine or soft drink on arrival.

And for those who come dressed as sailors? You’ll be rewarded with two complimentary drinks. Feeling peckish? They’ll be serving up their much-loved loaded fries from the outdoor kitchen.

26th – 30th August

Calamity Jane – Hall for Cornwall, Truro

Head to Truro’s Hall for Cornwall for an all-singin’, all-dancin’ production of the beloved Doris Day classic, Calamity Jane. Starring West End favourite Carrie Hope Fletcher (Cinderella, Les Misérables) as the gun-slingin’ Calamity herself.

Expect big laughs, bigger songs, and one wild ride through the Wild West with classics like The Deadwood Stage, The Black Hills of Dakota, and the Oscar-winning Secret Love.

21st - 25th August

Cornwall Folk Festival – Wadebridge

Get ready for an unforgettable August Bank Holiday as the charming town of Wadebridge comes alive with the sound of music! The Cornwall Folk Festival is back, bringing over 80 hours of live music, dance, and workshops across a jam-packed weekend.

Expect a dynamic mix of over 50 acts, covering everything from traditional folk to contemporary and Americana styles.

22nd August

Heligan Bee Day – Lost Gardens of Heligan

Head to The Lost Gardens of Heligan for a unique chance to connect with nature’s tiny heroes. Meet the Natural Beekeeping Trust Team at the Bee Observation Hut, just at the start of the Georgian Walk. 

Get a glimpse into the fascinating world of wild honeybees – see them in action, learn how they thrive in nature, and discover simple ways you can help support these vital pollinators.

29th August

Our Atlantic Roots Live – The Falmouth

This August, enjoy an evening of soulful music from Cornish-based, indie-folk duo, Our Atlantic Roots. Relax on the lawns of our sister hotel, The Falmouth, and enjoy sweeping oceans views.

Tickets are £10 per person, including a refreshing Chandon Spritz on arrival. Make a night of it with their delicious BBQ, offering freshly grilled seafood, meats, and seasonal vegetables.
