Rooted in ancient customs believed to celebrate the coming of summer, this extraordinary day sees the town transformed with greenery, flags and a central maypole, before two mysterious ‘Osses’ take to the streets in lively procession. Accompanied by drums, accordions and singing, the spectacle unfolds from morning through to midnight, drawing thousands each year for a truly unforgettable celebration of Cornish heritage.
