1. Enjoy Ollie's Côte du Boeuf Platter Night

Where: The Alverton, Truro

Spend a summer evening on The Alverton’s sun-soaked terrace as Head Chef Ollie Wyatt serves a beautifully prepared Côte du Boeuf platter on 10th July. Expect richly flavoured beef carved at the table, accompanied by seasonal sides and classic sauces, all showcasing the best of Cornwall’s summer produce. Tables are available from 5.30pm until 7pm, with the sharing platter priced at £49 for two people.

2. Take a dip in a natural tidal pool

Where: Across Cornwall

On Cornwall’s north coast, head to Porthtowan or Perranporth, and plunge into one of our county’s hidden tidal pools. At low tide, these are both magical spots for a quick dip—filled with fresh saltwater sparkling in the sunshine. We recommend wearing wetsuit boots, or sandals to safely navigate the rocky terrain.

3. Experience a day of Dragon Boat racing

Where: The Greenbank, Falmouth

On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July, enjoy a thrilling weekend of Dragon Toat racing at our sister hotel, The Greenbank. Setting off from their pontoons, watch the brightly coloured boats race up and down the shoreline, with a pint in hand. What’s more, their below decks pub, The Working Boat, will be serving delicious dirty fries all day.

4. Surf at Fistral Beach

Where: Fistral Beach, Newquay

No Cornish summer is complete without catching a wave, and Newquay’s Fistral Beach is one of Cornwall’s top surfing spots. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, lessons and board hire are readily available if you want to give it a go.

5. Join the Falmouth Week festivities

Every year, Falmouth Week is a highlight of the Cornish summer calendar, with a sailing regatta, shoreside entertainment, and fireworks spectacular. What’s more, our sister hotels are right at the heart of it all.

  • Friday 7th – Kick off the celebrations at The Greenbank with their Pink Wig Pre-Party, before the the joyful Pink Wig Mermaid March.
  • Friday 7th to Sunday 9th – Take a seat in the Water’s Edge for a Pink Afternoon Tea in support of the Mermaid Centre.
  • Friday 14th – Enjoy live music from Falmouth Soul Sensation, and a fireworks display on The Greenbank’s private quay.

6. Wander through the Lost Gardens of Heligan

Where: Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Austell

This summer, step into a world of wonder at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Fun for all the family, wander through towering ferns, discover hidden sculptures, and stroll along ancient woodland paths. If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t miss the jungle rope bridge!

Where: St Michael’s Mount, Marazion

For a truly unforgettable Cornish experience, walk the historic, cobbled causeway to the tidal island of St Michael’s Mount. Explore the medieval castle, wander the subtropical gardens, and soak in panoramic sea views. Be sure to check tide times before you go. At high tide, the mount is accessible by ferryboat.

8. Walk the South West coastal path

Where: Across Cornwall

Our Cornwall summer bucket list wouldn’t be complete without a walk along the South West coastal path. Weaving together our county’s beautiful coastline and countryside, there are seemingly endless routes to explore.
