Seven Things to Do this Autumn in Cornwall

Discover our favourite pastimes and fall in love with Kernow this season.

Autumn in Cornwall is an enchanting time of the year

Green to gold. Flip flops to wellies. Iced coffee to hot chocolates. Autumn is here and we can't wait to start feeling cosy in Cornwall.

Enjoy dog-friendly beaches

Woof, woof, hooray! We’ve got some news that’ll get your pup’s tail wagging. Cornwall’s seasonal dog bans have been lifted! Head to your favourite sandy spot in Cornwall, release the hounds and let them run wild and free.

Go for a woodland walk

In addition to gorgeous coastlines, Cornwall has a whole host of woodland areas to explore. Pull on your wellies, wrap up in scarves and jumpers, and don’t forget your rain coat too. Some of our favourite woodland walks include Tehidy Woods, Golitha Falls and Cardinham Woods, to name just a few!

Brave a sea swim

Just because the temperature has dropped, it doesn’t mean water sports are off the agenda. Whether you’re into catching the best waves, peacefully paddle boarding or simply dipping your toes by the water’s edge, you’re spoilt for choice with sea swim spots in Cornwall. We recommend Swanpool beach in Falmouth, Porthmeor beach in St Ives, or Holywell Bay near Newquay.

Catch an autumn sunset

Sunsets in autumn are breath-taking, and what’s more – you don’t have to stay up late to catch one as the evenings draw in nearer. The key is timing it right and knowing the best destinations. For full blown, dramatic sunsets we’d recommend anywhere on the north coast, in particular Porthtowan Beach, Perranporth Beach, or Holywell Bay.

If you want to watch the skies transition from blue to dreamy pastels, you’ll not be left disappointed on the south coast. We recommend Falmouth Harbour, the Helford Passage or Castle Beach, perfectly situated steps away from our sister hotel, The Falmouth.
