Green to gold. Flip flops to wellies. Iced coffee to hot chocolates. Autumn is here and we can't wait to start feeling cosy in Cornwall.

In addition to gorgeous coastlines, Cornwall has a whole host of woodland areas to explore. Pull on your wellies, wrap up in scarves and jumpers, and don’t forget your rain coat too. Some of our favourite woodland walks include Tehidy Woods, Golitha Falls and Cardinham Woods, to name just a few!
Autumn brings with it batches of seasonal produce sprouting, flourishing and blooming throughout the county. Get hands on and forage your own – from juicy blackberries to plump parsnips, carrots and cauliflower. For the seafood lovers, head to the coast and scavenge for wild seaweeds. If you’re unsure where to go for a spot of foraging, a good place to start is Trevaskis Farm, who offer ‘pick your own’ activities.
When it’s chilly outside, nothing warms the soul better than a home-cooked meal. Autumn is our favourite season for whipping up hearty pies, chunky soups and wholesome roast dinners. As the sun comes down, get cosy, light a candle, and enjoy a hearty meal.
Just because the temperature has dropped, it doesn’t mean water sports are off the agenda. Whether you’re into catching the best waves, peacefully paddle boarding or simply dipping your toes by the water’s edge, you’re spoilt for choice with sea swim spots in Cornwall. We recommend Swanpool beach in Falmouth, Porthmeor beach in St Ives, or Holywell Bay near Newquay.
Sunsets in autumn are breath-taking, and what’s more – you don’t have to stay up late to catch one as the evenings draw in nearer. The key is timing it right and knowing the best destinations. For full blown, dramatic sunsets we’d recommend anywhere on the north coast, in particular Porthtowan Beach, Perranporth Beach, or Holywell Bay. If you want to watch the skies transition from blue to dreamy pastels, you’ll not be left disappointed on the south coast. We recommend the Helford Passage or Castle Beach, perfectly situated steps away from our sister hotel, The Falmouth.
Savour autumn’s bounty and visit a local farm shop for the freshest pick of the harvest. As well as supporting local businesses, you can’t beat the feeling of preparing dinner with ingredients from farm to fork. With so many farm shops to choose from across the county, we’ve picked the best of the bunch! Trevaskis Farm near Hayle is a must-do with a fresh fruit and veg market, fishmonger, and butchery. Also, Baileys County Store in Penryn is not one to be missed!
On rainy autumn days, why not visit a local indoor museum? From Cornish heritage, art, seafaring history and even spell-binding mysteries, there’s always something new to learn in Kernow! Here in Truro we have the Royal Cornwall Museum, a great day out for the entire family. Further afield, we recommend the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Tate in St Ives and The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle.
One of the best things about Cornwall is the huge variety of beauty spots, from tranquil lakesides to coastal gems and rolling countryside. Autumn is a great time to return to nature and wild camp under the moonlight. Stock up on fluffy socks, hot water bottles, thick sleeping bags and waterproofs, and embrace the great outdoors. If you’re not quite brave enough to pitch your own tent and sleep on the floor, there are plenty of glamping sites around Cornwall too for a slightly more ‘comfortable’ experience.
