Discover Cornwall’s Hidden Gems

Insider Tips from The Alverton's Reception Team

Some of our reception team at The Alverton have curated a list of their favourite local treasures, ensuring you experience the best our beautiful region has to offer. Whether you're seeking serene landscapes or vibrant botanical wonders, let our insider recommendations guide your next Cornish adventure.

Kate - Perranporth

I love going to Perranporth with my dog Maggie (she’s a poodle mixed with a schnauzer).

It’s the best place for a dog walk and watching the sunset with friends. The beach itself is stunning, and with the shops and restaurants just a few minutes away, there’s everything you need for the perfect sunny evening.

Summer - Trebah Garden

This is a very special place to me because my uncle’s memorial bench is here, kept company by the trees and wildlife.

It’s so quiet and calm here in the gardens, and wandering around it really is amazing that all of these plants are able to grow right here in Cornwall. Also, I would highly recommend stopping for lunch or an ice cream in the café…

Sarah - Gwithian

My favourite place is the sand dunes at Gwithian. We like to come here with the dogs and could walk for miles while they play in the dunes.

If you find your way through them you’ll reach the beach, and the stretch of sand just seems to go on forever, with the most serene view that stretches all the way from St Ives and Carbis Bay, right round to Godrevy point and the lighthouse – it’s simply stunning.

Amy - Loe Bar

It’s got to be that incredible wander along the cliffs and over Loe Bar.

With the lake on one side and the ocean on the other, it’s just the most beautiful place, and you can even wander into the village of Porthleven from here along the South West Coast Path. Utter bliss!

Walks That End At The Pub

We've narrowed down our top 10 pub walks in Cornwall, from easy strolls, to challenging hikes, that all end with a cold pint and a view.
