We’re perched on the outskirts of Truro, the perfect destination to wander the charming cobbled streets and soak up all the city has to offer. We recommend visiting local light displays, embracing the waters with an annual Christmas Day swim and heading to a Cornish bakery to try a special festive version of our local delicacies.

23rd December

Enter through the grand doors of our historical hotel and be welcomed with a festive greeting by our friendly team. After checking in and dropping off your luggage, head over to The Oak and enjoy a warm mince pie, a mini Cornish cream tea, and a steaming glass of mulled wine, while listening to the sweet sounds of pianist Roger Miners. As the evening approaches, dust off your finest for a lavish and extravagant five course black tie gala dinner in The Great Hall, setting the tone for the rest of your festive stay.

Christmas Eve

Start your day with a hearty breakfast while taking in the beautiful scenery of our winter gardens. Afterwards, why not take a leisurely stroll into Truro and finish up any last-minute Christmas shopping? Or enjoy a morning of festive arts and crafts, where you’ll learn to make unique homemade decorations. Upon your return, join us for a delightful cocktail making experience that is sure to leave you feeling merry. Later in the evening, indulge in a delicious four-course dinner in our restaurant and perhaps a warming tipple or two in our cosy bar. If you’re attending Midnight Mass in Truro, we will be ready to greet you with a warm mug of hot chocolate upon your return.

Christmas Day

The big day has arrived, but rest assured that our experienced team will be pulling out all the stops to make it a magical and memorable one for you. Start the day off with a delicious Buck’s fizz breakfast and some special surprises for adults and children alike. For those who are feeling brave, we are only a short drive away from the beach where you can brave a traditional Christmas Day swim. If staying warm and cosy is more your style though, then enjoy a lazy morning unwrapping presents, and cuddling up next to the fire.

At lunchtime sit down to enjoy a delicious feast brimming with all of your festive favourites, with an Alverton twist. If you’re still feeling peckish, don’t fret because in the evening you can indulge in our buffet feast of Cornish delicacies. End the big day by sinking into a comfy armchair by the roaring fire with a delightful Christmas tipple in hand.

Boxing Day

After a restful night’s sleep, tuck into a delicious hearty breakfast, then spend the morning at your leisure. Relax with a book by the fire, before taking part in our pasty making workshop, where you’ll learn how to make this classic Cornish treat at home. After whetting your appetite, tuck into a warming Cornish lunch before the afternoon’s activities begin. We’ll be joined by some feathery friends, Screech Owl Sanctuary, who’ll be putting on a thrilling show in The Oak. In the evening, prepare for some fun and games with our selection of board games ready for your entertainment. To wrap up the day, tuck into a three-course dinner with us, served on Boxing Day evening.

27th December

Join us in the restaurant one last time for a delicious breakfast to set you up for your travels home, as we wish you all the best for 2025. Fancy one last hurrah? We’ll be playing host to Near-ta Theatre’s yuletide comedy performance, ‘Christmas.Time’ at 3pm and 7pm. Find out more and book tickets here.

Arrive Monday 23rd December and depart Friday 27th December 2024. Christmas break rates are based on two people sharing a room. Additional guests and sole occupancy rates are available upon request. We require a £100 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance is due by 31st October 2024 and is non-refundable after this time. Dogs are charged at £20 per night and includes a water and food bowl for the night, and some gourmet treats for them to enjoy.
