With legends such as Roger Taylor, Mick Fleetwood and Fisherman’s Friends, Cornwall’s stunning scenery and wild weather is the perfect creative inspiration for both past legends and upcoming artists.

Here’s a guide to our top ten favourite musicians in Cornwall to keep an eye out for…

Jenny Bishop

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 27th May 2023. 

Jenny Bishop is a songwriter, performer, media composer and sound designer based in Cornwall.

She is best known for performing with a live-looping rig, with which she creates emotive music with soaring melodies, layers of harmony and innovative uses of sound. Jenny has shared the stage with Midge Ure, Richard Thompson, Ralph McTell, Glenn Tilbrook and Show of Hands among others.

Her award-winning album Changing Scenes has been described as a “beautiful listening experience”.

We are delighted that she will be performing as our opening act of our Summer Sessions. 

Our Atlantic Roots

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 29th June 2023. 

Cornwall based husband and wife indie duo, Our Atlantic Roots, bring an uplifting blend of American & British alternative folk, with harmonies that are rich, dynamic and unite beautifully.

With guitar playing that is full of character and lyrics that are both poetic and direct, hopeful and authentic. This duo present a blend of the cultures they are individually from, by merging various genres characterized by their country and folk roots.

Rue

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 13th July 2023. 

Growing up in the small town of Lostwithiel, Cornwall, Rue made a name for herself by conquering the local gigging scene. She has been making waves in music since her first EP release. Rue continues to push her sensational vocals, impressive fingerstyle guitar playing and beautifully neo-soul inspired songs all across the UK.

Ash Harding

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 15th June 2023. 

Based in the Southwest, Ashley Harding has travelled and played in venues all over the world. Now residing in Cornwall, he is a popular performer at weddings and private events as well as our annual Summer Sessions! Performing a huge range of musical styles ranging from pop, rock, blues, country, folk, reggae and so on, there is something for everyone.

True Foxes

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 27th July 2023. 

This female duo from West Cornwall blend atmospheric harmonies with hauntingly beautiful melodies. The cousin duo are influenced by artists such as First Aid Kit and Bruce Springsteen. They perform a combination of original songs such as ‘Stubborn’ and ‘Sunny’, and have performed live on BBC Radio Cornwall.

Mog Jones

Mog Jones writes her own original music as well as covering songs by the people she loves to listen to, including The Beatles, David Bowie, Dolly Parton and Stevie Nicks. Mog is a very well known name in the Cornish busking community, playing music to the streets of St Ives when she was just eleven years old! Now she’s opening for shows such as Tunes in the Dunes, as well as a regular performer at our Summer Sessions.

Sam Richardson

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 22nd July 2023. 

Sam Richardson and The Renegades are a soaring 4 piece roots-rock band hailing from the rugged north coast of Cornwall. After being hand-picked by Michael Eavis himself to support Wolf Alice on their 25th anniversary show on Worthy Farm, Sam Richardson was entrusted with the task of opening the 50,000 capacity Main Stage at Boardmasters in 2021.

After performing at our Summer Sessions last year, he will be returning for another solo show in July this year.

Maisy Grace

Playing at The Alverton’s Summer Sessions on 17th August 2023 

Singer, songwriter and producer Maisy Grace has been making waves around the Southwest and beyond, as Sidelines, her debut EP, received airplay from BBC Introducing South West and Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson. Her deeply personal lyrics take on the world around her, tackling subjects as diverse as gender equality, mental health, love, loss and lockdown with a soulful delivery.

Toby Webb

Toby Webb is a rising singer-songwriter from Falmouth. He has been writing and playing guitar since he was 12 and in recent years has appeared on stage with folk stars such as Seth Lakeman, Will Keating and shanty singers, Bryher’s Boys. Last year he even landed a headline spot at the St Ives September Festival.
